Wizard of Oz Gymbag

Hi everyone,
Time flies even when you are not having fun... so much has happened in the last month and work was very busy so not only did I not craft a lot, I didn't have time to blog about the few things that I did do! But not to worry, hopefully this time I can keep up my posting thoughts and ideas ;) Technically I wanted to be sewing right now but as I spent most of the evening watching telly, it's a little late for that.

Not that I have been sitting still! I FINALLY managed to come up with a project that really works for the Wizard of Oz fabric I won so many moons ago. Among the fabric bits was a rather large piece of quilting fabric that I just didn't want to cut up. Hence my options were fairly limited, I could make either a bag or a pillow cover. Great ideas... I mean, who needs more tote bags? Then I also realised that the size of said tote bag would be a little weird so that wasn't going to happen. Mind you, I had already bought the lining fabric and everything, all I needed was an idea. And as usually happens with the best ideas, one day I woke up and there it was, the perfect use for this fabric.

Before I show the final result, let me remind you of the fabric itself so you have an idea of what's to come:

It's the large piece on the top right. You can see why I didn't want to cut it up!

So after all this (and missing the Celebrate Oz blog party a few months back), this is what I made with it:

Taadaa! Hold on to your horses, I have more pictures...

This is the lining fabric, very good colour scheme in combination with the WoO fabric I think! The inside is fully lined and the top edge, bottom, and strap are made of this fabric too.

The bag when not all scrunched up, you can see the pattern really well with all the characters. The laces came from a pair of shoes a long time ago and were never used, the little black thingy (forget the name sorry) is from an old fleece jacket)

The 4 main characters are at the bottom which is circular, creating a sort of tube bag.

The bottom is round, I used a plate to get the circle (always have to be inventive if cant draw proper circle!) I made only one strap but it's long enough to wear the bag on a shoulder of on your back with the strap in front.

And this is what it looks like when you're (well, I'm) wearing it. Still need to think of something to make the cord shorter but other than that it's done. I love this new bag! It's just perfect to carry some things to my newly discovered (and temporary!) Zumba class

I still have some of the pieces left of the WoO win and am thinking of disassembling the other toiletry bag but let's see what happens. I will post about it when I do! In the mean time, I hope you like my bag as much as I do *big smile*
