Viking Exhibition at the British Museum

Hi all, During the same visit of our friends, we visited also the Vikings Exhibition at the British Museum. While I have to admit that it didn't start off with a bang, it surely improved and turned out to be a wonderful exhibition indeed :) of course, no photography was allowed, but once again the embed function has come to the rescue: #476616157 / gettyimages.com #90108623 / gettyimages.com #90108671 / gettyimages.com #476616199 / gettyimages.com If you're into Viking history at all, this is very interesting. Of course one can't only sew all the time ;)

Wedding Dresses 1775-2014 at the V&A

Image
Hi all! A few weeks back we had some friends visiting and of course we had to do some touristy things. We visited the latest exhibition at the V&A: Wedding Dresses 1775-2014. It was amazing! Of course there is a no-photo policy (which sadly too many people ignore) but some pics can be seen below with the embed option. It was just too gorgeous :) I took one picture from way below the entrance so the quality isn't great but I just LOOOVE this dress: It's purple, it's gorgeous, it's Dita von Teese's wedding dress! OMG I just can't described the beauty of this dress. I want it!  Sadly it's not embedded as it wasn't available for the purple dress, but here is an image from Italian Vogue of the dress in action :)  Here are some pics of the other dresses to give you an idea of what is on display: #487427331 / gettyimages.com #487427235 / gettyimages.com #487427141 / gettyimages.com #487427073 / gettyimages.c...

Visit to Ripley's Believe it or Not

Image
Heyhey! A few months ago, the bf and I went to Ripley's Believe it or Not in London. I had bought vouchers about 6 months prior to the visit and they were about to expire so I dragged the bf along for a visit. Have you ever been there? It is basically a museum of weird stuff. They had this giant rocking chair that I just had to try :) Icouldnt really 'rock' as such as the chair was blocked against that (I imagine this is due to health and safety) but it was fun! This was a portrait of Ripley made out of strings of beads. The crafter in me was pleased :) Belt buckle display, well cool! This would not really go with the rest of my decor but it did give me some ideas... This statue depicted the story of Christ on a human skeleton. As this is Ripley's, not sure how 'real' it was but it sure looked cool. They even had Chinese shoes on display from the Manchurian bound feet era. It reminded me of the presentation I once held in college trying to explain the process. T...

Visit to the Museum of London

Image
Hi all! I am supposed to be crafting something but as I cant decide where to start (too many projects!), I thought I'd tell you all about my weekend :) Hope you dont mind! After spending a fun evening on Friday with a friend from work who was having her leaving party, I was very much in a London mood the next day. But what to do? Strangely enough, Facebook came to the rescue! I found a post about a book called 'Tired of London, tired of life' which I thought was a very striking title. After some googling I realised that this book had only been out for a short time but was sold out virtually everywhere! Again, FB came to the rescue as someone posted that the Museum of London sold copies. Excellent :) So off I went. I figured I may as well visit the (conveniently free) museum at the same time for some inspiration. Something that never clicked... before the Great Fire of London in 1666, THIS is what St Paul's Cathedral looked like! I never realised that it used to be point...

Virtual Visit to the V&A Museum

Image
Haaa, the week is over! It was a tad more stresful than planned but at last it is over. My projects are done (well most of them anyway) and today was museum day. Or so I thought... At 6pm my friend cancelled our museum trip because she wasnt feeling well. Which is fine of course, others were going anyway. Then I thought about it. It was 28C here today but it is September after all and it gets dark at 7pm now so after that it is more like 18C so not really mini skirt weather which I had chosen to wear today (the green dress has its second outing). So I went home instead and slept on the sofa while watching the Social Network (I love that movie!) which had more to do with my mental state than the movie itself of course. I guess it was a good thing my friend cancelled! But to finish this busy crafting month in style, I wanted to share some images with you that I took at the V&A a few years back. Oh yes, the V&A stands for the Victoria & Albert Museum and contains a lot of art...

London Bridge Experience and Science Museum

Image
It's been such a busy month crafting, let's take a break for a bit and do something fun :) A few months ago (cant believe I am so slow in posting LOL), my friend came to visit and not only did we go on Goth Walk 23 , we also went to the London Bridge Experience and the Science Museum. Remember the post I did about the London Death Trap ? Well, my friend asked me to find something similar for us to during his visit and as it happened, a voucher came along for the London Bridge Experience. Again, this was one of those active visits where people just out and scare you and it was so funny! The first part was really easy going and ok for everyone. The second part was where it got really scary! We were divided into 2 groups and had to put our hands on eachothers shoulders. Then we had to walk in single file through various rooms infested by zombies and with a lot of strobe lighting. That really starts to get annoying after a while actually... Meanwhile lots of people will jump out an...
