EFF Arcen 2011 - Professional Pics

Image
Hi all! Like every year, I also had some pics taken by photographers that were walking around the EFF, shooting pretty much anyone willing to pose. I need some practice (dont I always) but of course I was more than happy to pose. Not a lot of people asked in comparison to last year, but we still got a handful of photos :) Better late than never, so enjoy! Photos from Saturday: Photo by Tom Bombadil (sorry I cant find the business card with the actual name!) Love the way the eye thing worked for a change :) Photo by Marga van Belkum Photos from Sunday: Photo by Aartwerk.nl , we had only just arrived and I didnt sit down properly so the skirt didnt show nicely but all in all the pic isnt bad. Very innocent vampire LOL. Photo by Fok.nl, we're actually the first pic on the website! This is my friend Mandy who came dressed as a Naga, we had such funny pics together :) Photo by Zeburaman Love this one, but the hair on the hat annoys me so much... It was the wind and I hadnt noticed... P...

Vampires at EFF Arcen 2011 (Sunday)

Image
Hello again :) On Sunday we had another day at the EFF. The bf was in so much pain that he didnt want to dress up, but who could blame him! And after all, he still looks smashing in his normal stuff *swoon* Today we went with my family, which usually means we meet them somewhere and end up losing them about 5 times in the course of the next few hours LOL. So we only have a handful of pics together but better than nothing. Unlike the dress rehearsal, the vampire outfit had a last minute wig change. I bought this white wig which was great! It didnt have a lot of hair which was a shame, especially in the wind but if it wasnt too windy it was perfect :) We had even bought vampire teeth but somehow they wouldnt stay in. This is me testing them to get the paste to dry. Looked good but very inconvenient. We had to visit my friend Detlef from Shades Nosferatu . As always he had a magnificent display. Of course just because we went as vampires that didnt mean that there were no more zombies......

Vampire Dress - The Finale

Image
Today is the day that a lot of us are going as vampires, so this should be fun! Check out the dress, all done :) Once again, no hair and makeup done, and the wig used will be changed to probably a white one but nothing is sure yet. This is just to give you an idea of how this will look together. Compared to the zombie dress this is rather cute, but am thinking that with the right makeup it will look majorly scary (hope so anyway!) I couldnt help but smile that everything came together :) Falalalala, look a bit like Alice in Wonderland going shopping here, but the dress is shown well here. Closeup on jewellery and accessories. Once again, this wig will not be used... Hope I will scare many people today, muahahaha...

Vampire Dress - Handbag

Image
Hi all, For some reason this costume isnt going as well as some of my previous ones... Probably due to the fact that I didnt really have a clear idea of what I wanted to do, unlike some previous projects. So when I got the the handbag, I know which fabric and I wanted to use, but that was about it... Up until about an hour before starting this, I still wanted to make a round bag! I knew that I didnt want a bag with a long shoulder strap as that wouldnt be great with the jacket, and in the end I decided on this cute little tote design: This bag actually stands straight, as opposed to my charger bag that I made a few days ago... But I really tried better this time and measure, hihi. The bag is lined with a linen cotton blend which I had lying around somewhere and was perfect to give a bit of shape to the bag. I just dont trust this lovely purple fabric not to tear when holding all my things! I didnt line the handles though which might be my downfall in the end but it's all put toget...

Vampire Dress - Bustle is Finished!

Image
I am making such good progress and have finished the bustle this weekend :) Let me show you what it looked like a few days ago: (this photo doesnt show the trim yet) I really wanted to add something to cover the seams a bit and spent days trying to work out what to do... I had more of the black silk roses left and really wanted to use those. But only the roses looked a little boring and much too black (it has to look good in the pictures too after all). I tried using some leftover lace from the skirt to make large rosettes (not yoyos) like on the hat , but they turned out way too big and not at all nice looking on the skirt. I just looked wrong somehow and much too white. So I had to add something purpley. The fabric from the jacket was much too stiff and not purple enough and also didnt look very good. But then, as I slowly woke up on Saturday morning, I had it! I would use some of the purple (lining?) fabric scraps and cover that with the lace. Eureka! Doesnt it look cute? I had to g...

Vampire Dress - Mini Top Hat

Image
Yes, the hat for my vampire dress is done :) I had an idea for this for a long time and I've had the supplies for many years... I didnt take pics of the 'pre' hat but it is a very simple mini felt top hat that actually bought at EFF in April 2010. The ribbon I got even longer ago for next to nothing in a small fabric shop in my hometown. The silk flower was part of a mass purchase also years ago on ebay and the spiders are from my Halloween stash. So technically, this hat was free as I had everything :) It could even be classed as vintage as even my supplies are ancient, hihi! I glued the purple ribbon on with hot glue. The hat being felt, it stuck really well. The little spider on the top was a mistake, I was originally going for a plain hat. I was edging the ends of the ribbon with MP and accidentally hit the hat with the brush, causing the felt to become shiny. Oops... enter mini spider :) Of course one teeny tiny spider looks a little silly so I had to add another one. ...

Vampire Dress - More Bustle Progress

Image
Hi all, I am currently at home with some movement issues as it seems that I got waaay too stressed and my MS has decided to kick in again. Not as bad yet as the last time which is why I went home straight away and am just taking it easy for the time being. I'm so clumsy right now, I havent dropped this much in a long time... The nurse said to take it easy and don't get too stressed, so that is what I'm doing. But sitting at home all day can get so boring when you cant do much, so I wanted to do something that would keep me busy for a few hours yet be completely simple to do. Plus stitching means easy movement which can only be good. When sewing the bustle a few days ago, I realised I made a tiny mistake with it. How else can it be, this is me sewing and something always goes wrong... It wasnt anything major but it did require some fixing. Originally, I wanted to make a full bustle that went all around the lace skirt. That turned out way too tight. Of course I realised this ...

Vampire Dress - Bustle Progress

Image
Ready for another update on my vampire dress? I have so many little projects planned but this has to be done first. This time I tried, yet again, to make a bustle for my vampire dress. Only this time, I knew not to use heavy velvet! Remember this? This was the bustle I tried for the steampunk dress and it was just way too heavy. This time I was smarter :) I still had one piece of fabric leftover from the steampunk underskirt, and it was just enough to make the bustle. I didnt use a bustle pillow this time as that would have meant recalculating the entire dress. We're going for comfortable this year :) This is the result. I like it :) It's not quite finished, the front is open as the fabric wasnt enough to make a closed bustle so I will add some of the purple/black fabric there, and maybe some highlights where the seams are showing in the bustle. It's all a work in progress... but it's getting there. It has to be done in about 10 days and I still have to finish the bust...

Vampire Dress - Bolero Jacket

Image
Heyhey again everyone! (I really must think of another greeting sometime soon LOL) You may remember way back when, when I went to the charity shop for £1-week and bought this lovely item: It's white with silver sparkles and I was going to use it for some sort of fairy outfit together with the wedding dress I have yet to find a purpose for... I cant seem to find the post to show you which one I mean though. Naturally, white with sparkles isnt really vampy so I wanted to use this fabric instead: Isnt it gorgeous? It's two-sides and the other side is black on purple but the colour would clash too much with the planned corset. The black side is lovely too though :) I bought this last year at the market when they had a huge piece of about 2 meters for only £1! Of course I had to buy it immediately as these are exactly my colours and with that price it was an absolute steal :) Sadly since then I couldnt decide on a project for it... Luckily this has now changed. Then came challenge #...
