The Handmade Wedding Collective

Just a quick post as I nearly forgot about this. It has been marked in my calender for many weeks but I forgot to share! Tomorrow is the Handmade Wedding Collective. I have ruthlessly copied this text off Bookworm Eats Flower's blog (hope you dont mind Lauren!):

The Handmade Wedding Collective is a group of UK-based designers creating beautiful wedding-related things to wear, decorate, or give (whether it's your wedding or someone else's!).

They will be showing off their wares from March 15-20 in the Craft Central showcase space, near the Farringdon Tube stop. I'd encourage you to come by any time during the showcase, but especially for the private shopping night, Wednesday March 16 from 6-8 pm. There'll be a cake tasting (from Craft Cakes) and free beer (from Meantime Brewing), as well as a handmade giveaway! Not to mention the chance to meet a lot of lovely designer-makers...

 So again in short:
Handmade Wedding Collective showcase, at Craft Central showcase space (33-35 St. John's Square, London EC1M 4DS, near Farringdon Tube stop)
March 15-20
12-6:30 pm, Tuesday-Saturday (open 'til 8 pm Wednesday)
12-4 pm, Sunday

Fabulising February - Men's Shirt Dress

Hi everyone! Fabulising February is nearly over and this is the last project I have managed to complete.Tomorrow I'll post a short recap showing all the finished projects. Wanting to go out with a bang, I tackled a men's shirt that the bf bought online many years ago and forgot to return it so I wanted to make something nice out of it. Seems a waste to be throwing away a brand new shirt! Granted, it was white and while probably cotton it was very thick and stiff material. So I dyed it purple. Of course. Once it was purple, I then had to try and do something with it. Easier said than done! I finally found a cute idea for a dress in blogland (didn't save the link though) and I really wanted to try that. But the instructions were super tricky so in the mending pile it went. This is the shirt. Much too large even for the bf but purple at least ;) And a bit wrinkled for being in the bag for a very long time. But with only a little time left in my Fabulising February

My Neighbor Totoro Project #2: Catbus

Hello again! So last time I showed you how I made Totoro. I ended up making yet another doll / pillow from the same movie for the same friend! I think this was a present for a combination of life events, and I knew she would love this. This time, I made Catbus! (if you don't know what Catbus looks like, please Google it as there are so many references out there! Or better yet: watch the movie, you will love it!) Again, I went shopping for fabric... at least this time I knew what I needed, the wool was just perfect, I just had to find the right colours. Catbus has various shades of brown and a bright yellow. The brown was easy but I couldn't find yellow anywhere... In the end I opted for yellow felt which worked as well. Not the tiny squares of craft felt, no the proper felt on a roll. It seemed stronger, and the colour was perfect. Sadly this time there was no tutorial, but I did find a pillow on ebay that served as inspiration for this project. Ok, I mostly copied it... M
