Happy Halloween with a Spider Hair Band

Image
Heyhey everyone and Happy Halloween! Due to the party last Saturday and the baking day on Sunday, we're taking it easy tonight :) But at work it was a whole different story! Halloween on a week day, now there an interesting concept... Let me begin with Sunday's baking day though. I made two types of muffin: apple/cinnamon (in brown) and banana/white chocolate (in blue). They were a hit at the office today! I also made these cute brooms with paper bags and leftover straws, electrical tape, ribbon and tissue paper. Inside there is a spider web candy bag, which I still had from my Boston trip, filled with candy. The idea came from our dear Martha Stewart of course, though a little simplified as the UK doesnt do paper bags very well... I handed these out in the office as well, it was so funny as people seemed a little scared to open them, hihi! Of course I also had some crafts to finish (dont I always?). A little while ago, I found the perfect spider headband online, complete with...

Party under a Halloween Moon

Image
Hi all, It is time for my annual Halloween party! This year I am also participating in the Witches Tea Party under a Halloween Moon :) Because after all, in England 'tea' can also mean dinner hihi. So get ready for this year's yummies! First of all, the snack table: Finger carrots with various dips. I covered the container in orange paper to make it look nicer. The almonds are stuck on with houmous. I also made some pumpkin roll-ups as I found orange tortillas in the last second. I made more tortilla crackers with my new cookie cutters, we had witches hats, shoes, brooms and cauldrons. It was like an edible accessory shop! ;) The cauldron pot contains homous (I looove houmous!). Cauldrons with spicy crisps and of course some cornichons :) I used an empty Halloween candle pot to hold the tooth picks. I used my shrunken heads to act as a rim around the table. It looked wicked! I just strung them onto some ribbon and taped the ribbon onto the table. Of course the pumpkins wer...

Halloweening - Upcycled Shrunken Heads Tutorial

Image
Hi all, I didnt manage to carve a pumpkin tonight as I got home quite late from work and shopping for tomorrow's Halloween dinner. But I do want to share my shrunken heads with you, they are so cool! I was inspired by the shrunken heads on the Night Bus in Harry Potter. You know, this one: Remember now? (image borrowed here ) Last year I bought some miniature Christmas baubles in various shades of brown to make some Halloween deco with which of course I never did as I once again ran out of time. Oops... then I wanted to sell them on eBay and the sale fell through. But a few days ago I had the best idea. I was going to make shrunken heads, and this time I even made a tutorial :) This was done quite spontaneously in the evening so the pics are not perfect but they're fun, hihi! Gather supplies: mini Christmas baubles, various colours of wool, googley eyes, buttons (not pictured), scissors, glue gun, glitter glue or sharpie. Glue two googley eyes on each bauble and cut the wool in...

Halloweening - Another Pumpkin

Image
Hi all, OMG, yet another day where I was home only at 9pm so the whole preparing for Halloween evenings are few and far between. And my party is on Saturday! Plus I have at least another 5 items to blog about... But as it's nearly midnight, I will just share my latest pumpkin with you, at least I've done something :) It's a simple design but it looks good nonetheless I think. I just dont have the time right now... I hope you like it also! One pumpkin, three views. It turned out quite evil-looking :) I also made pumpkin seeds of course :) The girls at work are loving them! Ok, it's past midnight, I have to go to bed... more work tomorrow... Good night everyone!

Halloweening - Pirate Bath Mat

Image
Hi all! OMG, only 3 days to go until Halloween weekend! Well, you didnt actually think that I would only celebrate on Monday now did you? ;) I still have so many projects in the making and I just dont have time... Today I went to a few shops after work and bought some small supplies. Spiders for my wreath (my first ever, now there is a challenge!), a cool scarf from the £ store which I'll use for a table cloth and which I am sure will look wicked, and some other small things. I even found a CD of Stevie Nicks in the £ store :) Good music to carve by :) Remember my bathroom transformation from last year? Well, this year I decided to add some finishing touches. One in particular I might add. I made some cool bottles which of course remained there indefinitely... See, arent they cool? The spiders have needed some re-glueing but all is fixed and still looking piratey The whole bathroom (read: loo) looked great except for an awful bathmat that I'd bought some years back. It was tur...
