Halloweening - Costumes - Blood Elf / Pirate / Santa Costume

Hello again,
Today I want to show you how you can recycle costumes and come up with something completely different :) Check out how I managed to get a Blood Elf costume, a Pirate costume, AND a Witchy Santa costume all out of one idea!

In 2007, I made this costume for EFF 2007. I went as a Blood Elf from World of Warcraft. Well, my take on it anyway because it was cold and blood elves dont wear very much LOL.

I made the whole thing myself. The golden top was gold shimmery silky material with organza over it and a ribbon trim on the edges. It was based on a top I already had, I just copied it. The corset was made with a sewing pattern and had to be edited a bit as I made it way too big, oops. The outside was red PVC and the inside was this fabric that I love and can never remember the name of... Polyester anyway as it was stiff and I needed it to be a comfy corset. I added gold ribbons on the front and it tied in the back with red grosgrain ribbon. The skirt was the same red 'lining' fabric from the corset covered with red organza with a dark shimmer. The cloak was some gorgeous woolly fabric which was very comfy and warm, although a little big when packed. The staff was purchased and was brown with a white ball which I then painted gold and red. I got the crown on ebay especially, it was an Arwen crown from LOTR.

From all the leftover fabrics I made this handbag. It's puffy as I padded it with quilting batting.

So that was my costume from 2007 for EFF. However, one doesnt always dress as a blood elf, so what to do with this once EFF was over? Well, let me tell you, this is the most versatile costume I have EVER made and I am still using parts of it! :) In fact, the only thing I havent found a way to reuse yet is the golden top... Are you curious yet? Let's get started :)

I wore the red skirt, pinned some white fake fur on the edge of the cloak, made an apron out of bedsheet and some remnants, and a hat and voila: Witchy Santa! This is being worn each year at SantaCon and is always a big hit.

I used the top from this Spider Nightmare costume to make the below outfit (the skirt is now the zombie underskirt by the way, I just took all the spiders off)

Pirate outfit for EFF 2009. I used the same corset, handbag, and skirt. I used the black top as described above, purchased a belly dancing belt, and a mini pirate hat.

Pirates again at PirateCon 2010 with a different wig creating a whole new look (at least I think so).

See, one planned costumes, and two others that came from it :) I love it when this happens!

  2. Of the pirate costumes I've seen, I got to say that your costume during the PirateCon 2010 takes the cake. I love the mix of the red and black colors as well as the accessories you got!
